Chemical Peels

A chemical peel is a procedure in which a chemical solution is applied to the skin to create even and controlled shedding of damaged skin cells. Chemical peels can be used to target a wide range of skin irregularities and or conditions such as fine lines and wrinkles, sun damaged skin and uneven pigmentation, as well as certain types of acne and freckling, but can also improve the overall look and feel of the skin as well as improve texture and tone. Chemical peels are very easy to customize and as such, vary greatly in their downtime.

While a chemical peel is not a substitute for dermal fillers or cosmetic surgery, it can be performed in conjunction with other aesthetic treatments for optimal results. Regularly scheduled chemical peels accelerate cellular turnover, help condition the skin and can really take your skin to that next level. Most of our patients enjoy a chemical peel every six to eight weeks for best results.

Robertson Cosmetic Center offers a variety of light and medium depth skin treatments for skin rejuvenation. Robertson Cosmetic Center offers two additional skin resurfacing modalities for patients looking for even more aggressive treatment that also requires more healing time.

The lighter of the two treatments is a medium depth chemical peel, specifically called a Jessners Solution/35% TCA peel. This peel excels in providing correction for color irregularities of the skin, whether it’s age spots, sallow complexion, or the dark pigment deposited around the eyes. In addition to color irregularity, it also offers intermediate permanent wrinkle reduction. Overall a TCA peel is less aggressive than an erbium laser resurfacing treatment, yet still provides a comfortable recovery whether done under local anesthesia for isolated treatment of the eyes or under sedation anesthesia for full-face treatment. Medium depth chemical peels present an attractive balance between beautiful skin restoration and tolerable post-op care that leaves patients’ skin vibrant and glowing.
